Differences between the BSM10GD120DN2 and BSM10GD120DN2E3224 modules

This article explains the differences between the BSM10GD120DN2 and BSM10GD120DN2E3224 IGBT modules.

BSM10GD 120DN2 is a 3-phase Full Bridge IGBT module that contains a total of six IGBTs, including a fast freewheeling diode. It is suitable for applications such as 3-phase inverters. This module can be used for a voltage of 1200 V and current of 15 A (at a case temperature of 25°C). The module comes with an insulated metal baseplate in the package. Figure 1 shows the device nomenclature.

The device that ends with ‘Exx‘ is classified as a special type of device. The module comes with two variants: BSM10GD240DN2 and BSM10GD240DN22E3224.

This module has the same datasheets for both variants. Electrically, there is no difference between this module and the other one. However, the pin sizes of these variants are different, even when the pin positions are the same.

Conclusion:

Both modules are interchangeable as long as the pin position is kept in mind because the pin dimensions are not same for the both modules.
