“LG is the first company to have its dedicated software testing facility receive this particular accreditation from TÜV Rheinland,” according to LG.
It can now evaluate the architecture of software for its home appliances in accordance with IEC 60730-1 and IEC 60335-1 to determine if functional safety requirements have been met.
This is not the first time the company has put this particular centre under a third-party microscope.
“In June 2022, the software centre was designated a TÜV Rheinland Appointed Laboratory, becoming a credible provider of automotive software functional safety evaluations,” said LG. “Prior to that, the centre earned accreditation from KOLAS [Korea laboratory accreditation scheme] to assess autonomous vehicle software and measure the quality of electric and electronic products.”
