Qualcomm Technologies announced the launch of the new Snapdragon 7 series mobile platform – Qualcomm Snapdragon? 780G 5G mobile platform. By integrating the Qualcomm Spectra® 570 triple ISP and sixth-generation Qualcomm AI Engine, the Snapdragon 780G is designed to deliver powerful AI performance and an outstanding imaging experience, allowing users to capture and enhance their favorite moments while seamlessly share. The platform includes some of the top-of-the-line features supported for the first time in the Snapdragon 7 series, bringing the next generation of mobile experiences at your fingertips.
Kedar Kondap, vice president of product management at Qualcomm Technologies, said: “Since we launched the Snapdragon 7 series mobile platform three years ago, more than 350 devices have been released with the Snapdragon 7 series mobile platform. Today, the new Snapdragon 780G 5G The launch of the mobile platform will continue this strong momentum. The Snapdragon 780G aims to bring the most popular and top-of-the-line mobile experience to more users around the world.”
With the new Qualcomm Spectra 570, the Snapdragon 780G is the first Snapdragon 7 series platform to support three ISPs, enabling simultaneous shooting of three cameras, that is, the zoom, wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lenses can capture three different photos at the same time. The platform features a new low-light architecture that delivers professional-quality images in any lighting condition. Users can also take advantage of HDR10+ video capture to capture professional-level photos with over 1 billion colors. The new 4K HDR video capture, powered by computational HDR, delivers dramatic improvements in color, contrast, and detail for stunning photos.
The sixth-generation Qualcomm AI engine on the Snapdragon 780G includes the Qualcomm Hexagon® 770 processor, which can achieve up to 12 trillion operations per second (12 TOPS), and the AI performance is twice that of the previous generation platform. Almost all connections, video calls, and voice calls are now powered by AI, enabling use cases such as AI-based noise suppression and better AI-based voice assistant interactions. A dedicated low-power AI processor integrated into the second-generation Qualcomm Sensor Hub capable of supporting audio processing further enhances the performance of the platform.
The overall optimized Snapdragon 780G supports some Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite Gaming™ features. With many features implemented for the first time on the mobile side, the platform can support end-game-level features such as GPU driver updates, ultra-smooth gaming experience, and True 10-bit HDR gaming. Snapdragon Elite Gaming enables global mobile gamers to easily play all top 3A games. At the same time, these selected features supported by the Snapdragon 780G will promote OEM manufacturers to develop terminals that support the next-generation gaming experience, and allow more consumers to enjoy the next-generation games.
The Snapdragon 780G also uses an optimized Snapdragon X53 5G modem and RF system, with a peak download speed of 3.3Gbps in the Sub-6GHz band. The platform brings the top Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth audio features supported by the Snapdragon 888 to the Snapdragon 7 series for the first time, including the recently introduced Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound™ technology. Through the Qualcomm FastConnect™ 6900 mobile connectivity system, the Snapdragon 780G supports unprecedented multi-gigabit Wi-Fi 6 speeds (up to 3.6Gbps), VR-class low latency and robust capacity. Not only that, with the positive progress made in the 6GHz spectrum globally, the Snapdragon 780G’s support for Wi-Fi 6E has further expanded the combination of the above-mentioned advanced features to the powerful 6GHz frequency band. In addition, the Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound Technology Suite certifies Qualcomm Technologies’ advanced audio features and system-level optimizations for a new end-to-end listening experience.
Commercial terminals equipped with Snapdragon 780G are expected to be available in the second quarter of 2021.
