Samsung Electronics announced on Tuesday that it will acquire U.S. network service provider TeleWorld Solutions (TWS) to better provide 5G infrastructure and solutions.
According to the agreement between the two parties, TWS will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics America, Samsung said. Samsung did not disclose the value of the acquisition. Headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia, USA, TWS specializes in network design, service testing and optimization for mobile service and cable network operators.
Samsung said the deal would allow the company to provide end-to-end solutions, from semiconductors and mobile phones to network infrastructure businesses, amid growing demand for 5G infrastructure in the U.S. and strengthened 4G LTE networks.
“The acquisition of TWS will allow us to meet the growing demand from mobile operators to improve their 4G and 5G networks and create an opportunity to strengthen our ability to serve customers.” Paul Kyungwhoon, Executive Vice President, Head of Networks, Samsung Cheun said in a statement.
