Skyworks and Wolfspeed advance EV charging

Skyworks Solutions is debuting the next iteration of its isolated gate driver board (GDB) reference design, the Si828x-BAWB-KIT.

These gate driver boards are well-suited for SiCFETs with an optimised gate driver board layout suited to replace complex competing power stage designs.

This simplification in design is suitable for automotive applications with the GDB and XM3 combination providing a pre-tested solution for EV charging and propulsion.

This new Skyworks GBD reference design works in tandem with Wolfspeed’s 1700V XM3 SiC FET.

Together, they enhance power density as compared to previous generation modules and discrete approaches.

Created to be easily implemented in power switching designs by engineers, the new GDB kit offers a low inductance layout, proven bill of materials, and complete design documentation, ensuring a smooth integration process.

The solution also guarantees the power module is protected from fault-related damage.  

The Skyworks GBD kit with the Wolfspeed XM3 provides power efficiently for automotive applications, enabling improvements in EV charging and drivetrains.
