Working Together with Foxconn for a Brighter Journey

We caught up with Young Liu, Chairman and CEO of Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn).

NXP: You’ve taken the word “innovation” to the extreme – going from an ICT manufacturer to electric vehicles. What innovation does Foxconn bring to the automotive industry?

At Foxconn, we see big. As the lead of electronics manufacturer and leading technology solutions provider, it became clear to us that we were well equipped to influence today’s automotive industry. Our growing electro-mobility, automotive portfolio leverages our excellence in ICT and our strength in time-to-market and time-to cost. Software continues to transform vehicle architecture, the way they are manufactured, designed and experienced and we are eager to be at the forefront of all of it.

NXP: It’s certainly been an incredible journey for Foxconn and we’re proud to be part of it. From your perspective, how does NXP contribute to your goals?

Our long-standing partnership with NXP excites us, because NXP also sees big. NXP’s portfolio, longstanding expertise and leadership in the automotive sector made it obvious to collaborate towards jointly developing platforms for a new generation of software defined vehicles. NXP has a strong focus on safety and security when it comes to enabling the architecture innovation and platform for electrification, connectivity and safe automated driving. Our collaboration continues to build on our partnership surrounding the digital cockpit utilizing NXP’s i.MX and Software Defined Radio platform. NXP provides the technology and system expertise to enable Foxconn’s EV development.

NXP: One of our big themes this year is about creating Brighter Journeys. How does Foxconn exemplify this concept?

Collaboration is critical to success during transformative times such as these. NXP is a leader and the ideal partner in uniting the automotive ecosystem. They embody the fact that “brighter’ begins with autonomy, sustainability and trust. By leveraging their broad portfolio and working with them on their NXP CoreRide platform with pre-integrated software and hardware, we can accelerate software-defined vehicle development significantly. As a leading electronics manufacturer, we used NXP’s solution to build our first car in under two years. This milestone highlights the importance of collaborating with the right partner — one that offers advanced technology and expertise needed to drive rapid innovation and success into the automotive market.
