LoRa®-based smart farming solutions can significantly improve the yield and quality of agricultural products while freeing up labor
As one of the oldest industries in China, agriculture has a history of thousands of years of development. It is the foundation of my country’s national economy and the most fundamental guarantee for China to pursue a sustainable development strategy. However, in recent years, with the adjustment of my country’s economic structure, more and more migrant workers have entered the city, resulting in an increasing shortage of agricultural labor, the unreasonable use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and the shortage of water resources. The sustainable development of agriculture is facing severe challenges. How to realize the refinement, green and sustainable development of agriculture is a key problem that needs to be solved urgently in our country and even in the world.
As the most populous country in the world, China’s food security has a huge impact on social stability. For several years, the central government has successively released the No. 1 document with the theme of “Sannong”, highlighting the importance of “Sannong” issues, strengthening the drive of scientific and technological innovation, and leading The development of modern agriculture is accelerated.
With the increasing maturity of IoT technologies such as LoRa®, traditional agriculture and modern information and communication technologies are combined to form smart agriculture, thereby realizing unmanned, automated and intelligent management. It is predicted that by 2050, smart agriculture will increase food production by 70%, which can effectively solve the global food shortage problem.
Xiamen Xingzong Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Xingzong Intelligent”), as a leading provider of intelligent Internet of Things (AIoT) products and solutions in China, takes cutting-edge Internet of Things communication and artificial intelligence as the core technology, and makes full use of LoRa technology , launched a variety of products based on LoRaWAN®, such as sensors, gateways, solenoid valve controllers, and multi-function data collectors. These products have been exported to 129 countries and regions around the world, and are widely used in smart cities, smart transportation, smart security, smart office and smart agriculture.
In order to improve food quality and yield, and free agricultural workers from heavy manual labor, Xingzong Intelligence provides a set of LoRa-based smart agriculture solutions that can monitor agricultural applications in real time. LoRa wireless transmission technology has been widely used in smart agricultural scenarios due to its low power consumption, wide coverage, easy deployment, and the characteristics of “self-organization, security, and controllability”. This article will introduce the different applications of Xingzong intelligent LoRa solutions in agriculture.
LoRa-based intelligent agricultural irrigation system
The growth of crops is inseparable from the irrigation of water. However, too much or too little irrigation will affect its growth, and too much irrigation will cause great waste of water resources. Xingzong Intelligent launched a LoRa-based intelligent agricultural irrigation system, which installed sensors such as light, carbon dioxide, soil temperature and humidity conductivity, input liquid level, and multi-functional data collectors in the farmland to collect environmental data of crops, and through LoRaWAN-based sensors The base station gateway of ® presents the data in the constellation cloud platform, monitors and analyzes the environmental conditions of crop growth in real time, so as to make intelligent decisions and improve the yield of crops.
In order to manage agricultural water scientifically and effectively, Xingzong Intelligent installs the LoRaWAN®-based solenoid valve controller on the water valve. When the sensor detects that the soil moisture is insufficient, Xingzongyun will give an alarm in time, and trigger the opening of the water valve switch. The crops are irrigated; when the water is sufficient, the water valve is triggered to close and the irrigation is stopped. Through linkage-controlled intelligent irrigation, water waste can be effectively controlled, labor costs can be reduced, and crop irrigation efficiency can be significantly improved.

LoRa-based smart tea factory solution
As a major tea producer in the world, China urgently needs to combine traditional techniques with modern technology in tea production. In the process of tea making, the temperature, humidity and air oxygen content in the tea making environment are very important for the fermentation and drying process of tea leaves. In this solution, the temperature and humidity sensors are installed at different positions inside the tea-frying machine to monitor the temperature and humidity values at different positions inside the tea-frying machine in real time, so as to control the temperature and humidity during the tea-frying process, so that the tea leaves are heated evenly and ensure that the tea leaves are heated. quality. At the same time, the traditional oxygen sensor and temperature and humidity sensor are connected to the LoRaWAN-based multi-function data collector through RS485 to collect the temperature, humidity and oxygen content of the tea factory. In addition, the contact-type PT100 temperature sensor is used to monitor the temperature value of the internal central parts of the tea-frying machine, and monitor the temperature inside the tea-frying machine in real time, so as to avoid the overheating and even damage of the parts of the tea-frying machine due to the long working time. The data collected above will be sent to the gateway through LoRa, and finally the gateway will forward the data to Nebula for analysis to determine whether the current ambient temperature, humidity and oxygen content are suitable, and whether the tea-frying machine can operate normally.
Users can monitor and view environmental data in real time through Nestral Cloud and mobile apps, and can also set alarm values on the cloud platform. When the monitored data exceeds the threshold, Nestral will immediately push the alarm information through the mobile app and email. Users can make adjustments according to the actual situation in time, which can ensure the quality of tea and avoid losses caused by improper production process management. .

LoRa®-based smart animal husbandry system
Animal husbandry has higher requirements on the environment. Changes in temperature and humidity, air, light, and food quantity will have a greater impact on the healthy growth of livestock and poultry. To this end, Xingzong Intelligence has developed a complete set of LoRa-based smart animal husbandry solutions, which can improve the efficiency of the breeding industry while improving the economic benefits for farmers. At present, this LoRa-based smart farming system has been widely used.
By placing the LoRa temperature and humidity, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, light and other sensors in the livestock and poultry house, environmental data such as temperature and humidity conditions and harmful gas concentrations can be collected; The functional data collector is connected to traditional estrus monitoring, disease monitoring and other sensors to collect data on the health status of livestock and poultry; in addition, the ultrasonic ranging sensor can accurately measure the feed tower and water tower of the automatic feeder.
Ultimately, all these environmental, livestock, and feeding data are uploaded to the Nebula Cloud through the Starzong intelligent LoRaWAN base station gateway, presenting visual and analyzable management data. Once any abnormal data is detected, Nebula Cloud will immediately send an alarm to the user, and farmers can adjust ventilation and add feed in time to ensure that livestock and poultry are in a healthy, comfortable and reasonable breeding environment.

LoRa®-Based Smart Aquaculture Solutions
Water level, water temperature, and water quality are crucial for aquaculture. The ultrasonic ranging sensor can collect water level height, the PT100 temperature sensor can collect water temperature, and the LoRaWAN multi-function collector can collect sensor data such as water conductivity, water quality PH, dissolved oxygen and ammonia nitrogen. The valve controller is linked with the water valve or water temperature control equipment, so that the water volume of the farm is sufficient or the water temperature is kept at a suitable temperature; when the water quality is abnormal, Nebula Cloud will immediately send an alarm message, so that the farmer can take corresponding measures in time. Ensure the quality and yield of aquatic products.
